Biography

Doctor Bloomfield graduated from Northwestern Medical School in 1970 at the top of his class. Having a great sense of adventure and a flair for the dramatic, Bloomfield moved to Alaska in the summer of 1974 and soon established himself as a popular and highly successful cardiologist. His practice was destroyed after a malicious lawsuit in the spring of 1985. The bitter physician bought a video rental store in a strip mall at the corner of Jewel Lake Road and Dimond Boulevard in Anchorage, Alaska within days of leaving his practice and spent most of his time before the outbreak of the war watching action adventure films on his Betamax VCR, Disgusted by her husband's total disconnect with reality, his wife Trista ran off with a lawyer named Herbert Bond on July 27, 1985, leaving Blofeld with a taunting note about preferring a "real" Bond to James Bond. When the war broke out four days alter, Blofeld didn't notice.

On August 4th, he was ht on the head and trapped in the basement of his video rental store by a nearby bomb explosion. Slightly brain-damaged and on a terminal sugar high, he awoke convinced he was evil mastermind Ernst Stavros Blofeld. He spent the next two months watching James bond movies and eating a huge stock of Twinkies his wife had purchased cheap for an in-store promotion. He kept his generator running until October 18th, when EMP from the limited nuclear exchange fried his VCR and forced him to the surface.

Bloomfield hid from the Soviets in the ruins of his store, and when they evacuated he came out as went back to work in the Campbell Lake area as a great healer and physician, albeit well known as a bit of a loony one. He made his lair in the basement of his video store, experimenting on, ... treating his patients for barter and collecting all sorts of medical/chemical stuff from the area.

His closest crony was an old fart named Coghill who lived in the area, an old codger missing one eye and an arm, deaf as a post, who used to go on and on about how stopped a Russian amphibious assault by blowing up the Campbell Lake Dam. Coghill disappeared one day ten years after the war, after saying goodbye, dressed in black and white and saying he was going back home to Nenana. He'd heard there was a great man that was listening to a small panda on his shoulder. Blofeld never saw him again.

A lab fire, which Blofeld was of course convinced was the work of Bond, in reality, a band of firebrand Loopers sent to put an end to healing people without the aid of the Prophet, drove him from his home in the early spring of 2006.

At loose ends, Doctor Blofeld joined Rear Admiral Ffolkes' crew working on the construction of H.M.S. Phoenix I at Whittier after evading hostile bands of Loopers. Blofeld was convinced that Admiral Ffolkes was secretly the head of SMERSH and an implacable foe of the iniquitous James Bond, and thus gave the admiral his unquestioning loyalty during his lifetime. Blofeld served as H.M.S. Phoenix I's first ships doctor, taking a temporary commission as a lieutenant commander in the Royal Navy. He was offered the rank of commander, but refused to be accorded the same rank as his nemesis!

After the Alaska League's conquest of Portland in 2007, Blofeld worked as an instructor at the University of Portland Medical School for a number of years, then took charge as civilian director of the Chemical and Biological Warfare Institute, originally in Portland. In 2017, the Institute's labs were relocated to Kahoolawe Island in Hawaii as a safety precaution, though rumors abounded at the time that then Prime Minister Dolphin wanted Blofeld as far away from Portland as possible.

Doctor Blofeld spent the remaining years of his life in Hawaii, mainly at the labs on Kahoolawe Island. Using his growing wealth and local influence, Blofeld became the kingmaker in local politics, while exploiting his access to the UKA R&D community to enrich himself. He started the Blofeld Soup Company in 2020, which produced the bouillon cubes which became a staple in military field rations for many years. It later turned out that Blofeld had been using Koreans as one of the main ingredients of the infamous "K-Cubes."

Increasingly paranoid, Blofeld nonetheless became a father figure to several generations of scientists and technicians, becoming a cult figure to some, even being worshiped by the notorious "Cult of Carhenge" which later moved to the ruins of Detroit.

In December 2031, King Josh and Queen Maureen paid a visit to the Hawaiian Islands. As a part of the tour, the Royals visited the labs on Kahoolawe Island, in part due to King josh's concern with rumors about some of Blofeld's more sinister activities. Blofeld was excited by his chance to gain control of the royal family, and hence the throne which he felt was rightfully his. He abducted Queen Maureen and ordered her to divorce the king and marry him to cement his rule as King Ernst I. Special Forces and Royal marines, personally led by the king stormed Doctor Blofeld's labs and the octogenarian mad scientist was killed in the ensuing battle. Rumor has it that Queen Maureen personally did the deed, having had a long standing grudge against the doctor.

After the fighting ended, the full extent of Blofeld's insane, diabolic operations were revealed, including nearly twenty years of using Koreans to create soup stock and various attempts to build the ultimate soldier out of spare body parts.

It is believed that the cult of Blofeld worshippers at the Detroit Carhenge site are still active, despite the area having been under Midwestern Islamic rule for over forty years.

Family

His young daughter Ernestina was away on a camping trip in the Nancy Lake area when the attack came. She was with the Kim family from next door. Blofeld later heard a rumor that the Kims, with Ernestine in tow, made it to the Palmer/Sutton area before being captured by the Russians. Blofeld presumed that she had been eaten by Russian cannibals and he never did find out what had happened to her.

In actuality she was raised by the Kim family as one of their own in a community near Glenallen,. Eventually she made her way to Whittier, and by her early twenties, to Portland where she married a doctor, but with twenty odd years having passed, neither recognized each other, and Blofeld having so changed, there was little hope that he would be lucid enough to even remember that he once had a daughter. He just had a grave dislike of Koreans for some reason or other
