Saudi kicks off worldwide Eid al-Fitr celebrations to mark end of Ramadan

Saudi Arabia on Sunday kicked off worldwide Eid al-Fitr celebrations to mark the end of the fasting month of Ramadan. Muslims in Europe, and in some Gulf Arab states, including United Arab Emirates and Qatar, are also following suit, while others, like Iran, will wait until Monday. UN chief Antonio Guterres wished the Muslim community happy holidays, but said he did so with a heavy heart because many Muslims “won’t be able to celebrate Eid with their families due to war, conflict or displacement”.
